The second song in my blog post series is entitled, I Had Myself a True Love from the Broadway musical St. Louis Woman. The lyrics were penned by Johnny Mercer and the great Harold Arlen composed the music. Arlen is best known for writing a little tune called Somewhere Over the Rainbow, maybe you've heard of it. Haha. This song has been recorded by such greats as Barbra Streisand and Audra McDonald. I fell in love with it the first time I heard it and knew I HAD to sing it. It is heartfelt lament sung by a woman who's husband is cheating on her with another woman. Not a very uplifting topic, but the song is quite magnificent...
