Here is a comical song called Nelson that a friend of mine gave me several years back for a character audition piece. It is written by Jerry Herman the Tony Award winning composer who wrote such shows as Hello Dolly!, Mame and La Cage Aux Folles. This song is sung from the point of view of a classic film starlet who has been paired up with her co-star Nelson for many, many films. The public adores them but behind the scenes she CANNOT stand her on screen love. Very similar to Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont in Singing in the Rain. I wonder how Jeanette McDonald felt about Nelson Eddy? Wait! Was his name NELSON???....hmmmmm...And now for your viewing pleasure, Nelson...
