At the Ballet: Giselle

Ivy and I are fortunate enough through Roger's work to have gotten a great deal on season tickets to Ballet West. The first production they did was, Giselle. A beautiful ballet that deals with deception, ethereal and dangerous fairy-like spirits (Willis), madness and true love. Not bad for one night at the ballet. The music is timeless and moving and the dancers were just beautiful.

Ivy sat on her plush booster seat and seemed pretty excited to take in her first ballet performance. She kept looking at the program to see who was dancing and even though we discussed the plot earlier, she would lean over in a quiet voice to make sure I knew what was going on. The night caught up with her though, and during the last ten minutes of the second act she fell asleep. I filled her in on what she missed as we stood in a standing ovation for the dancers.

The second act was my favorite. I just love the Willis. And Giselle is so sweet as a ghostly spirit trying to save the man she loves from the evil Willis queen. Can't wait for the Nutcracker in one week!
